Take a walk down MakerStreet and you’ll find workshops and labs where students, researchers and companies build, test and create together. Here, you can develop ideas, explore technologies and turn knowledge into prototypes and tangible solutions.

What is MakerStreet?

MakerStreet brings together AU Herning’s workshops in one integrated environment.

Designed as an open corridor, MakerStreet connects specialised workshops and production cells where students and researchers work side by side with modern manufacturing technologies.

This setup makes it possible to work across materials, technologies and disciplines. Here, you can move seamlessly through the entire development process – from initial sketches to testing, prototypes and finished solutions.

Facilities

MakerStreet is organised into a number of dedicated workstations supporting different stages of the production and development process:

Laser cutting of wood and plastic
Sawing and drilling
Grinding and surface finishing
CNC milling
Laser welding and sheet metal bending
Welding workshop

Access to the facilities also includes guidance from our technical specialists, who can advise you on equipment, materials and processes.

AI for Materials and Advanced Product Development Lab

A research and development lab where AI and materials come together. Here, we work with the analysis, modelling and development of new materials and product solutions.

DIGI Lab

A microfactory for digitalisation, sustainable production and Industry 4.0. Here, we test how digital technologies can help businesses become more efficient and sustainable.

Production Lab

Future production in practice. Here, we work with automation, robotics and intelligent production systems, testing how production lines can be optimised and further developed.

PROTO Lab

An open development space for prototyping and experimentation. Here, we build, test and further develop ideas – from early concepts to more developed solutions and potential business ideas.

xR² Lab

A research lab for virtual, augmented and mixed reality combined with robotics. Here, we explore how humans and machines can work together most effectively.

3D Lab

A creative 3D printing environment for concept development and product design. Here, we work with prototypes, test different shapes and develop physical models from digital designs.
