Interdisciplinary, business-oriented and international

The Department of Business Development and Technology is an interdisciplinary department where business development, management, strategy and organisational development meet technology and engineering.

We offer Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes as well as diploma and specialisation programmes – all with close links to business and industry.

Our programmes are research-based and build on cross-disciplinary collaboration, while fostering an interdisciplinary, creative and international mindset in our students.

This means that our graduates are ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of globalisation and to translate theory into practice for companies and organisations – locally and globally.

From roots to future


The Department of Business Development and Technology traces its roots back to 1995, when the Herning Institute of Business Administration and Technology was established in close collaboration with the business community. In 2006, the institute merged with Aarhus University and became part of the university’s focus on research, innovation and business-oriented study programmes.

Since 2015, we have been known as the Department of Business Development and Technology, and we continue to pursue our original vision: to educate talent, develop new knowledge and create solutions that make a difference – locally and globally.
