3D Lab

3D Lab is a creative workshop for innovation and product development. Here, we support teaching in concept development, industry-related projects and student start-ups.

Machines and equipment

The lab is equipped with 3D printing technologies and equipment for prototype design, allowing you to explore new materials and methods. You have access to:

  • 3D printers that can print in PLA, PET, ABS and other materials
  • a vinyl printer and cutter for printing and cutting vinyl
  • a 3D scanner for applications such as reverse engineering

From idea to prototype

At 3D Lab, students, researchers and entrepreneurs can quickly turn ideas into physical prototypes. With access to professional 3D printers and a 3D scanner, you can develop, test and refine your solutions throughout the design process.

For teaching, research and innovation

The lab is an integral part of project-based teaching at AU Herning. Here, students can develop and test prototypes as part of their projects, explore function, form and fit, and receive valuable feedback early in the development process. This provides a stronger basis for decision-making and further developing ideas – whether the project originates from teaching, research or a start-up idea.
