Advanced Interdisciplinary Research on Organisational Development

We conduct research into how digitalisation and sustainability are changing businesses, organisations and society. Our research is not only about technology, but also about the processes, decisions and strategies that come with the integration of new digital solutions and green requirements into everyday life. Our strength lies in our interdisciplinary approach, which means that researchers from different fields work together to address the same issues, each from their own perspective. The result is a holistic understanding of the symbiotic relationship between technology, organisations, people and markets.

From intentions to real digital change

How can digital tools and data be translated into real and sustainable improvements in organisations? What organisational processes must be in place for the green transition and digitalisation not to remain simply strategies on a piece of paper? How do employees, managers and users experience the associated changes? And how do new technologies and sustainability requirements affect markets and business models?

We ask the questions that make the difference between good intentions and real action, and we do so with an eye for people, organisations and markets.

Business sustainability – sustainability as strategy

Sustainability is not just about materials, carbon emissions and technical calculations. It is also about companies creating value and taking responsibility for the climate, for society and for people.

The new EU taxonomy requires all companies to document their climate footprint, not only in a narrow sense in production, but throughout their organisation and value chain. The ability to report on ESG and CSR is both a legal requirement and a competitive parameter.

AIROD does research into sustainability as strategy because it shows how the green transition and digitalisation affect processes, business models and employee experiences – not just theoretically or as legal requirements, but as something that must work across real-world organisations and value chains.

How digitalisation and the green transition are shaping organisations and markets

Digitalisation and the green transition are recurring themes in our research. Both require organisations to rethink processes, technologies, strategies and ways of working together. To understand how this happens, we work from three perspectives.

P E O P L E

We study how employees, managers and users contribute to development and innovation. How does digitalisation affect working methods, skills development and collaboration? How do we involve users in the development of products and services? And how does collective creativity create value for the organisation and the business?

O R G A N I S A T I O N S

We take a holistic look at organisations. From financing, risk management and internal structures in multinational companies to supply chains and collaboration in ecosystems. We examine how organisations adapt to new technologies, green requirements and market conditions, and how they can develop processes that put digitalisation and sustainability into practice.

M A R K E T S

We explore how developments in organisations and business influence the market. Our focus is on marketing, business models, innovation and the challenges posed by globalisation for the development of products and services. We also look at how technology and sustainability requirements affect competitiveness and opportunities across markets.
