AIROD

Advanced Interdisciplinary Research on Organisational Development

The AIROD research section at the Department of Business Development and Technology conducts research into how organisations develop in the face of digitalisation, new markets and calls for more sustainable business practices.

As researchers, we cover the fields of economics, organisational studies, management and strategy and combine our different perspectives to understand and address complex challenges.

Our research makes a difference to businesses, public organisations and society as a whole. We develop knowledge that can be applied in the real world – from smarter processes and green business models to innovation, leadership and new forms of collaboration.

We work closely with universities, other research environments, business and industry and the public sector – both nationally and internationally. At the same time, we make sure that the latest research wings its way straight into the classrooms and auditoriums at Aarhus University, providing the next generation of leaders and specialists with the strongest possible foundation to build on.

PROJECT

Corporate Digital Responsibility: Balancing Economic and Ethical Goals in the Digital Economy

How can companies take responsibility for their use of digital technology without compromising their business?

This is being investigated by the Corporate Digital Responsibility research project, headed by Anne Ballantyne from the Department of Business Development and Technology and Christiane Marie Høvring from the Department of Management. The project examines how Nordic retail companies balance financial goals and ethical considerations in the digital age.

Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence create new opportunities for innovation and growth, but at the same time raise important questions about data ethics, transparency and responsibility. The project therefore examines how companies understand and exercise digital responsibility in a world where technology often develops faster than regulation.

The research contributes new knowledge about how digital responsibility can be translated into shared norms and values – and how organisations can create responsible digital development that strengthens their business as well as society.

The project is supported by the Aarhus University Research Foundation and IT University West.
