MSc in Engineering no. 1,000 has just graduated from AU Herning

Since 2007, AU Herning has been educating civil engineers who excel at transforming technological expertise into business value. We have now reached a significant milestone with MSc in Engineering graduate no. 1,000, Simon Sommer Haaber, who completed his degree on Monday, 23 June. Congratulations to Simon – and to all 26 of his fellow graduates in Herning.

Back at work already on Monday

Simon Sommer Haaber's career is already well underway. For nearly six years, he has worked as a systems engineer at BEUMER Group.

“I was fortunate enough to be able to keep my position as a systems engineer while studying for my master’s degree. And I was even able to do many of my project assignments together with my colleagues there,” Simon says with a smile.

The close collaboration between education and industry has been a real highlight for him:

“The best part has been combining technology with business and working closely with companies throughout my studies. I’m taking a couple of days off now, but on Monday I’ll be back at work, continuing to automate our tendering process,” he explains.

1,000 civil engineers in 16 years

Since the first MSc in Engineering graduates completed their studies in 2009, the programme has continued to develop in close collaboration with industry.

Today, our alumni hold positions as product managers, systems developers, marketing directors and business developers at major international companies such as Vestas, LEGO, Arla, Grundfos, Velux and many more. Several have also found success as directors of their own start-ups.

What makes AU Herning’s engineers unique is their ability to combine technological expertise with a strong understanding of business. They think creatively, work in a solution-oriented manner and have a holistic perspective across disciplines and functions.

Congratulations to graduate no. 1,000

We extend our warmest congratulations to MSc in Engineering graduate no. 1,000, Simon Sommer Haaber, and look forward to following the next generation of engineers as they make their mark on the business world with the powerful combination of technology and business.
