Huge congratulations to this year's 89 winter graduates

Applause, big smiles and teary eyes filled our campus on Friday, 31 January. We had the pleasure of congratulating 89 graduates who have completed their Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering programmes at AU Herning. They were celebrated with speeches, music, congratulatory letters and graduate awards.

Head of Department Anders Frederiksen welcomed everyone.
Tenna Knak, Ege Carpets, gave this year's keynote speech.
Emil Bjørklund, this year's graduate speaker.
The guests enjoyed the refreshments in the newly refurbished canteen area.
Julie Omme Jensen, this year's Bachelor of Engineering Award winner.
Ondrej Matha, this year's Master of Engineering Award winner.

Popping champagne bottles and cheers have echoed through campus in recent weeks as newly graduated students were welcomed by family and friends after their final exams.

On Friday, 31 January, it was time for the more official celebration as we hosted this year’s winter graduation ceremony at AU Herning.

The festivities began with a warm welcome speech from Head of Department Anders Frederiksen, followed by this year’s guest speaker, Tenna Knak, Global Director of Marketing, Product and ESG at Ege Carpets and a former engineering student at AU Herning, who delivered the keynote speech.

Remember to celebrate your successes
In her speech, Tenna Knak shared five valuable pieces of advice for the graduates’ future careers:

“First, you don’t have to be somebody. You are already somebody. Second, embrace failure as a learning opportunity. Engineers are problem solvers by nature. However, not every solution will work on the first try,” she smiled and continued:

“My third advice to you is to cultivate a network. Your peers, professors and colleagues are all invaluable resources. Fourthly, remember to celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem.”

“And finally, there are idiots out there. And you will meet them, and sometimes they will even get promoted before you. But trust the process and be a good person and colleague and leave it up to karma,” Tenna concluded.

We are problem-solvers
This year’s winter graduate speaker was Emil Bjørklund, who has just completed his MSc in Engineering in Technology Based Business Development (cand.polyt.).

His message to his fellow graduates was clear:

”We are innovators. We are problem-solvers. We are the next generation of leaders, engineers, entrepreneurs and visionaries. Whether we’re designing groundbreaking technologies, building sustainable solutions or launching new businesses, we have the power to create meaningful change.”

A graduation ceremony filled with congratulations and awards
On the day, congratulatory letters were presented to the graduates, along with awards recognising two students for their outstanding achievements during their studies.
