Congratulations to this summer's graduates at AU Herning
Summer has arrived, and 82 happy graduates have just left us, accompanied by congratulations, diplomas, and resounding applause. On Friday, 27 June, we gathered the graduates along with their families and friends for this year’s summer graduation ceremony – a festive day filled with both solemnity and high spirits.

A significant milestone reached
The graduation ceremony was opened by Deputy Head of Department Anne Ballantyne, who gave a warm welcome to the graduates and their families.
This year, we were not only celebrating our graduates, but also a very special milestone: the 1,000th MSc in Engineering graduate. This marks not only a fine round number, but also 18 years of dedicated work in educating civil engineers who combine technological insight with business acumen.
First international graduate shared her experiences
For the occasion, we had invited keynote speaker Hristomira Hristova-Tsvetanova, Senior Learning Manager Digital & Data at LEGO Group, who was the first international graduate from the MSc in Engineering programme. In her speech, she shared her experiences of student life and the transition to working life in a global context.
Her best advice to the graduates was:
Success isn’t a straight line. Don’t trust slogans like ‘failure is not an option.’ We learn more from failure than from textbooks. Sometimes, not getting what you want is a blessing – it pushes you to be resourceful and resilient. If you feel lost or unsure, take a breath. You’re not broken – you’re building.
Community across programmes
This year’s graduate speaker was Jonas Precht Löwe Lindberg, who has just completed his Master’s degree in Information Technology in IT, Communication and Organisation. He began his speech by reminding everyone that, although the graduates come from different programmes, they also share much in common.
We share a common thread, having been educated in the field of business development and technology,
he smiled, and continued:
I’m sure many of us, in our final projects, have explored how digital technologies can be used to create value in organisations – whether it’s AI, big data or something else.
Jonas also highlighted the close connection to the business community as one of the major strengths of the programmes. Already shortly after starting their studies, many secured student jobs, and according to him, it’s not just the job title on the CV that has changed, but also themselves, both personally and professionally.

On the day, each graduate received a handshake and a letter of congratulations, and the two best Master’s theses were celebrated with awards.
