Product development

Does your company need to develop a product or service, but lack the resources to develop a working prototype based on relevant technologies? Physical product development focuses on turning ideas into physical prototypes. That means that the students in close collaboration with the client and the end users/customers will be developing working prototypes that can help further the development of ideas and products.

We offer companies projects within design and calculation of mechanical constructions. The students will be able to prepare working and assembly drawings, make sizing calculations in SolidWorks and build functional models using, among other things, 3D printing and machine tools.

The students will be able to find and dimension the mechanical components that form part of the construction, for instance motors and bearings. Likewise, the students can dimension the construction elements with regards to security against breakages, vibrations and selection of materials.

Examples of projects: Design of a hoisting mechanism for slurry tank mixers. Design of a hedge trimmer for tractors.

What can the company expect from this project?

  • Physical product development: The student works with concrete problems or issues defined by the company with the purpose of developing workable solutions.
  • Result: An innovative and technologically feasible prototype as well as a report.
  • New colleagues: The company has the opportunity to find students for new projects as well as future employees.

What is required by the company?

  • A concrete problem or issue that the company would like to have tested and developed.
  • Conduct of meetings with the student during the course of the project.
