With the winners of the innovation award Guldæg 2018 from Emplate and the InnoFounder 2018 winners from IoTeelab among the students celebrated by Aarhus University on 25 October, the Department of Business Development and Technology was strongly represented at the event.

The entrepreneurial activities are in full swing at Aarhus University. Since 2015, more than 100 student companies have been established - several of these have annual turnovers of more than DKK 1 million and several have more than 10 employees.

These students not only share a similar passion and persistence, but have also all participated in AU’s Dual Career programme. Since 2016, this programme has worked to promote the opportunity for students to take a university degree alongside their entrepreneurial career.

At the event, a total of 17 students entrepreneurs were celebrated. Altogether, they have established six different companies that since 2016 have received seven major entrepreneurial awards. Seven out of the 17 students were students from the Department of Business Development and Technology and have founded the companies Emplate and IoTeelab.

“Naturally we are always proud when our students do well, and this time is no exception,” says Anders Frederiksen, who is head of the Department of Business Development and Technology.

“Many of our students are entrepreneurs or dream of becoming entrepreneurs. We help them achieve their goal through offers such as the Business Factory. Here students are given a unique opportunity to work with innovation and entrepreneurship alongside their studies,” he explains.
