Interdisciplinary research collaboration between ICOA and AU Herning

10 January AU Herning hosted a joint AU Herning/ICOA seminar. The seminar marked the beginning of a new collaboration between researchers from AU Herning and ICOA; an interdisciplinary collaboration that will further strengthen AU Herning’s research profile.

All employees at AU Herning were invited to the seminar in which the majority of researchers from the Interdisciplinary Center for Organizational Architecture

ICOA also participated. After an introduction by Center Director at AU Herning professor Michael Goodsite and Center Director at ICOA Børge Obel, associate professor at ICOA Dorthe Døjbak Håkonsson gave a presentation on a topic within her research field: “Integrating shared emotions into organizational decision making”. The seminar ended with getting to know each other over lunch.

Truly interdisciplinary collaboration

In his welcoming words, Center Director at AU Herning professor Michael Goodsite expressed his excitement about the new collaboration.

 - I am very happy to have this collaboration start, and together we will be a great example of what it means to be truly interdisciplinary, Michael Goodsite said, and added that as one of Aarhus University’s interdisciplinary centers, ICOA has been interdisciplinary long before “interdisciplinary” even became a buzzword.

Center Director at ICOA Børge Obel said that with the widespread range of different methodologies applied at ICOA, he looks forward to the collaboration with AU Herning’s researchers within the fields of engineering, business economics and business communication.

Strengthening AU Herning’s research profile

The new collaboration will further strengthen AU Herning’s research profile. During 2012 AU Herning appointed 16 new researchers as part of AU Herning's efforts to ensure strong and locally based research and education with a global scope, and the newly signed collaborative agreement with ICOA is another step on the way to creating an even stronger profile.

Staff exchange

Michael Goodsite explained that ICOA has dedicated an office at their center in Aarhus to AU Herning’s researchers who are collaborating or want to collaborate with ICOA.  Likewise, ICOA will have an additional office in Herning “ICOA West” and researchers from both ICOA and AU Herning who want to collaborate are encouraged to spend time at one another’s research environments in Aarhus and Herning.
