Birgitte brings extensive industry experience, having worked in R&D departments as an engineer, team leader, and project manager at companies including Alfa Laval Separation A/S, ABB A/S, VELUX, Guldmann A/S, Vestas A/S, Hydratech A/S, and Fritz Schur Energy A/S.
She is particularly interested in bridging the gap between product development and manufacturability, focusing on how products can be designed with production in mind from the outset. Her special interests are centret upon helping companies adopt a more holistic approach to product development, thereby reducing the time required to bring new products into production.
Birgitte holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where her academic focus combined materials science, manufacturing technology, and product development.
Birgitte teaches engineering students in the following courses: Operations and Quality Management - 1, Product Development from a manufacturing perspective, Technology and Processes, CAD, Mechanical Design - Material and Manufacturing Technology, Mechanics, Computer Simulation using SolidWorks and Technology-based Concept Development - Project
She also supervises a wide range of student projects, from first-semester assignments to final bachelor’s projects, across the two engineering programmes on which she teaches.
Birgitte is actively involved in the ongoing development of both programmes, with the aim of ensuring that the curricula remain current and relevant to industry needs.
