New collaboration between Aarhus BSS and Herning business community

9 May 2017 saw the kick-off meeting for the newly established foundation entitled AUHE Midtvest’s Støttefond. The foundation is a commercial self-governing institution aiming to consolidate the collaboration between the Department of Business Development and Technology at Aarhus BSS in Herning and the local business community in Central and Western Jutland.

More than 100 people turned up for an afternoon which was full of visions for a future collaboration between the business community and the Department of Business Development and Technology at Aarhus BSS in Herning. Through its activities, the foundation aims to contribute to attracting students and to engaging students and companies in different task solutions. The activities should also inspire companies to hire the department’s graduates.

The new chairman of the foundation Kenneth Iversen sees a lot of opportunities - not just for the department and the business community - but for the entire Central and Western Jutland region.

“We want to create new growth and development opportunities for companies, and we wish to do so in collaboration with business councils, the Department of Business Development and Technology and students among others. We hope that our efforts will contribute to making this an area to which people will eventually dream of moving!”

Greater opportunities for growth
The goal is to increase collaboration between the Department of Business Development and Technology and companies in the area in order to fulfil the needs for a highly educated labour force. In addition, AUHE Midtvest’s Støttefond aims to create new opportunities for growth and development for companies in Central and Western Jutland region by making use of highly qualified competences from the department. The foundation will also work towards ensuring that more graduates are employed in the Central and Western Jutland region.

The business club
As part of AUHE Midtvest’s Støttefond, a business club for company owners/managers has been established. The club is meant to contribute to increasing awareness of the degree programmes at the Department of Business Development and Technology in small and medium-sized companies. This should contribute to greater collaboration between companies and the department, students and graduates and ultimately result in the development of new technologies, methods and processes.

Among other things, the aim of the dialogue is to remove possible barriers to employing graduates in the fields of engineering, economics, sales and HR. In addition, through the business club, members get the opportunity to meet up twice a year at information meetings at the Department of Business Development and Technology. This allows corporate managers to network and develop new opportunities for collaboration across the Central and Western Jutland region. The hope is that all company owners/managers in the region should have a thorough knowledge of the possibility of engaging in collaborations, and be regular visitors at the department.

“Specifically, the companies can employ student interns, collaborate on specific projects that they want to solve, participate in courses at the department, just to mention a few of the possibilities,” says John Hansen, who is a career consultant at the Department of Business Development and Technology.

The chairman of the board would like to encourage interested companies and managers to get in touch. The first meeting in the business club takes place on 10 October 2017.
